27wks

I've actually made it to the 3rd trimester!!! I really, really, really, really did not think that was even a possibility for us! It is another HUGE relief... once we hit 28wks / 30wks etc... I will be able to breathe a little easier (figuratively, not literally...)

Saw my Dr. on Tuesday and everything still looks good. We have another growth scan in two weeks.

There's no hiding this belly anymore! It completely gets in the way when I try to bend over and pick something up off the floor...which I do A LOT...4 yo's just don't completely get the concept of putting things back where they belong when you're done with them (but then again 37 & 38 yo's don't really get that concept either...)

Artwork

Here's some of Amelia's recent artwork... she has become quite prolific and we don't really know what to do with all the stacks of drawings that are piling up at our house.

Our scanner is acting funny so they aren't the best looking scans - but you get the drift...

This is her butterflyThis is a picture of her and daddy playing outside.

This is her happy heart. (she draws A LOT of these)

This is a picture of her family -

This is a happy flower with stickers.

New purse & 1st library book

Amelia got her own library card and checked out her first book all by herself on Tuesday at school. Now we just need to remember to send it back to school with her next week!!!! She had been waiting to go to the library since the first day of school.

She also picked out yarn and wanted me to make her a purse with a flower - so that was my project Tuesday night... It actually turned out pretty cute. I made the flower and everything! (You can't really see it in the picture since it blends in with the rest of the purse) Also notice the shiney purple tennies...they are a new favorite and lead to far less complaining about wearing tennies to school every day. And in case you were wondering - yes, the purse yarn was selected to match the shoes...

Zoo Day!!!!!

At the last minute Sunday night we decided to get out of the house for Labor Day and took a trip to the zoo!

It was a great day to go - we were expecting it to be wall to wall people - but it wasn't really crowded at all and the weather was fabulous - sunny but not to hot. All of the animals must have liked the cooler day too. They were all out showing off.
The lions were napping - but really what else do they do???

These are some of the great bronze (??) statues that they have all over the grounds. Amelia wasn't to sure about standing in the arms of the second one. It looked just a little to real.We spent a lot of time at the Chimpanzee exhibit. When we first got there they were all kind of hidden behind a tree in a little group - but then they all got up and started wandering around. They were all pretty interested in looking at the spectators. The one in the picture below even came right up to the glass where Amelia was standing and put her hands up on the glass. It was pretty amazing. Amelia was scared of her being so close - but it was really cool to see. Based on our best guess from the pictures - this one was named maggie and was born in 1973 - the same year as Truett.

These are Patas Monkeys - they didn't do much but eat while we were there.

Gorillas - this was a mother with a new baby. They were all pretty sedate - just sat and people watched.

The baboons were active. The mother baboon to the left in the group of three in the middle of the picture just had a baby in the beginning of August. You can just barely see it - it's the little dark brown head poking up. It was a cute little tiny thing that was still pretty wobbly.

They are starting a new exhibit at the zoo where you as a visitor can feed the giraffes. Eventually you will have to pay money to do it - but for now while they are trying to train the giraffes it's still free. They were just finishing a feeding as we came up - but we got to see the giraffes up close.
Amelia and every other kid around kept calling the ostriches "turkeys"... guess they do kind of look like that...

The elephant just calmy stood and ate near the rail while all the kids tried to get his/her attention.

After a while we all got tired and decided to take the bus to see the rest of the animals and the playground.

This was (and always has been) Amelia's favorite animal at the zoo... the Sea Lion...

This was a smaller black and grey sea lion... he loved to swim right up and slide along the viewing glass.

At the end of our day we made a stop to ride the carousel. All of the zoo animals are represented on the ride. Amelia chose the wolf.
This was supposed to be part of the last post - but for some reason I couldn't get it to load with the rest of the pictures...

Whirling dervish

Somedays you just can't get Amelia to stand still...
Gidgit decided she wanted to be Amelia for a while so she stole her pillows and her stuffed dog...

26wks

Sorry - took these last week and haven't gotten a chance to post them until now... 26wks and bigger than ever!
