Zoo Day!!!!!

At the last minute Sunday night we decided to get out of the house for Labor Day and took a trip to the zoo!

It was a great day to go - we were expecting it to be wall to wall people - but it wasn't really crowded at all and the weather was fabulous - sunny but not to hot. All of the animals must have liked the cooler day too. They were all out showing off.
The lions were napping - but really what else do they do???

These are some of the great bronze (??) statues that they have all over the grounds. Amelia wasn't to sure about standing in the arms of the second one. It looked just a little to real.We spent a lot of time at the Chimpanzee exhibit. When we first got there they were all kind of hidden behind a tree in a little group - but then they all got up and started wandering around. They were all pretty interested in looking at the spectators. The one in the picture below even came right up to the glass where Amelia was standing and put her hands up on the glass. It was pretty amazing. Amelia was scared of her being so close - but it was really cool to see. Based on our best guess from the pictures - this one was named maggie and was born in 1973 - the same year as Truett.

These are Patas Monkeys - they didn't do much but eat while we were there.

Gorillas - this was a mother with a new baby. They were all pretty sedate - just sat and people watched.

The baboons were active. The mother baboon to the left in the group of three in the middle of the picture just had a baby in the beginning of August. You can just barely see it - it's the little dark brown head poking up. It was a cute little tiny thing that was still pretty wobbly.

They are starting a new exhibit at the zoo where you as a visitor can feed the giraffes. Eventually you will have to pay money to do it - but for now while they are trying to train the giraffes it's still free. They were just finishing a feeding as we came up - but we got to see the giraffes up close.
Amelia and every other kid around kept calling the ostriches "turkeys"... guess they do kind of look like that...

The elephant just calmy stood and ate near the rail while all the kids tried to get his/her attention.

After a while we all got tired and decided to take the bus to see the rest of the animals and the playground.

This was (and always has been) Amelia's favorite animal at the zoo... the Sea Lion...

This was a smaller black and grey sea lion... he loved to swim right up and slide along the viewing glass.

At the end of our day we made a stop to ride the carousel. All of the zoo animals are represented on the ride. Amelia chose the wolf.
This was supposed to be part of the last post - but for some reason I couldn't get it to load with the rest of the pictures...

Whirling dervish

Somedays you just can't get Amelia to stand still...
Gidgit decided she wanted to be Amelia for a while so she stole her pillows and her stuffed dog...

26wks

Sorry - took these last week and haven't gotten a chance to post them until now... 26wks and bigger than ever!

Panthers pre-season game

The seats were great and the weather was WARM - the actual football game.... not so great! But as Truett says... "It's still pre-season..."

This is a picture of the seats we had for the play off game last year... out seats were right under the corner of the pe.psi sign in the very top row... quite a change for this game....

We took a little break to get food and drinks before the game started so we missed most of the players coming out...

This is cheerleader picture for Amelia....

The seats were really close to the field - but this also meant that the only time I could actually see what was happening was when they were right in front of us. The rest of the time the players and other people standing on the sidelines pretty much blocked my view! We mostly watched the Rav.ens kickers practice.

But I did get to see my favorite player put some points on the board up close!!! Go Kasay!!!

25w belly pics

25 weeks today! Not much change from last week's pictures - but I feel huge already and I know I've got a long way to go!Not that anyone really wants to see - but this is what a Lovenox belly looks like... (you can still see the remnants of my band-aid disaster too)

24w Ultrasound

We had another ultrasound to monitor growth today.

So far everything is still looking good. The baby was being difficult so she couldn't get all the views / angles she was trying to get - but he weighs 1.5lbs already (right on track for gestational age...) and my fluid levels are right where they should be!!!!

On top of the baby being difficult the ultrasound tech had problems getting a good head measurement because his head was right under one of my gigantic lovenox bruises. She showed us how the picture changed when she hovered over the bruise...she thought at first I had some kind of fibroid problem, but no... I just have a spotty lumpy belly.

She finally got him to roll to a different spot and got the measurment she needed. His head is BIG!! (Good news / bad news if you ask me...)

He kept his hands or feet in front of his face almost the whole time! (To me it looks like he has big feet too...) But we did get to watch him swallow and stick his hand in his mouth a few times. It was kind of cool because I could feel him move and see him move at the same time. Totally freaked me out a little bit.
